4x3 is a curated poster project conceived by artists and collectors – Xavier Meade, Chris McBride, John Phillips and John Mandelberg.
Drawing on their personal archives, each contributor developed a selection of posters that formed the initial exhibition titled 4x3 held at RAMP Gallery in July, 2014. The publication of the book 4x3 brings together a careful documentation of each of the 48 posters included in that exhibition, along with essays by the collaborators. These essays explore their love of posters, the development of their collections (and obsessions) and the power of the poster to influence and inform. There is also an additional essay by Flor de Lis Lopez Hernandez titled ‘Politics & Graphics: A binomial about human problems’. 4x3 is a bilingual book, with English and Spanish translations side-by-side.
