Coralie Winn
Coralie Winn is the director and co-founder of Gap Filler in Christchurch. “Gap Filler is about bringing life to the city and testing new ideas for urban space.”
Winn lost her home and her job during the Christchurch earthquakes and realised that this was an ideal opportunity to bring life back to her damaged city. The result was Gap Filler, an urban-regeneration initiative that coordinates temporary creative projects on vacant sites and in empty buildings.
Projects have included a bicycle-powered cinema, a book exchange set within a disused fridge and a community venue - The Pallet Pavilion - constructed from nearly 3000 wooden pallets. “The abundance of temporary, creative projects in Christchurch is redefining the city's identity as well as (hopefully) having an effect on the permanent rebuild."
