Fashion is life and love.

This is true for artist and designer of NZ label Miss Crabb ~ Kristine Crabb. In 2001 Kristine opened Rip Shit and Bust store on Auckland’s K Road as a platform for her and art school friends making special one off and experimental pieces. Three years later in 2004, Miss Crabb was established on Auckland’s Ponsonby Road, a more refined and singular creative project.

Each Miss Crabb piece is produced in New Zealand and the patterns, cut by Kristine herself, transform natural fabrics into clothing that endures several seasons of wear. The clothes are made to be interpreted by the wearer,  encouraging singularity and freedom. A Miss Crabb piece is at once skilfully complex and seemingly simple in its construction and appearance.

Now an icon in the New Zealand fashion industry, Kristine will be talking with Leonie Hayden about the creative practice of taking something conceptual through the technical process of making the product and getting it ready for the market.
