Leonie Hayden Workshop

12:30–1:30pm Tuesday 9 August, 2016

PG.18 / P Block / Wintec

Open to all journalism students Leonie will be looking at what makes a good long form feature story and some of the do‘s and dont‘s of pitching a story to an editor.

Students are asked to bring either a long form story that they are working on or a pitch for a story.

Leonie Hayden is the editor of Mana magazine - a current affairs, culture and lifestyle magazine for Māori. Leonie will be talking about representation of Māori in the media, the distinctions between Māori and mainstream media and why it’s important to understand both, as well as the historical context for the marginalisation of the Māori voice in media.
