Toaki Okano
Photographer Toaki Okano is fully dedicated to his craft.
As a teenager, he realised that the retail management path was not for him and made the decision to pursue photography as a fully-fledged career. From that pivotal moment, he has gained 27 years of experience and international recognition for his quirky ‘still life’ photographic style, which he describes as ‘things appearing how he sees them in real life’.
How Toaki sees things, through the lens of a clean Japanese-inspired aesthetic, has seen him build a clientele including Fisher and Paykel, and create visual campaigns for Silo Theatre and the New Zealand Opera, as well as create the newest album cover for the band Shihad. Toaki and his camera also work extensively with the magazine Home, capturing interior and furniture design.
Toaki will be talking about how to be professional commercial photographer. He'll be showing examples of his work and describing how to execute each job from the brief .
