It sounds like I missed out on a lot while standing in the middle of the cloud

Join us for the opening preview of this group exhibition curated by Justin Jade Morgan (Wallace Gallery) featuring:

Particles in Space (1980) the last film made by the pioneering experimental film-maker Len Lye.

A new kinetic 'smell' work by Raewyn Turner and her partner Brian Harris titled Smote (2016).  The fragrance list for this work reads like a mysterious recipe for a magic spell:

'Norlimbanol - an animal amber smell, Laurus nobilis - which denotes power and success; veto ver, birch tar oil, castoreum and a tincture of the smoke of church incense.'

Scott Gardiner's beautifully executed Disappear Here (2013), James R Ford's playful digital work Tiddlywink in the lens (2010) and Diane Scott's transcendent The Curtain (2016).

Spanning a variety of mediums such as paint, pencil and fragrant compounds through to experimental film techniques and digital media - each artist explores themes related to human experience or movement and imbue a sense of place.  The works point the viewer toward the curator's playful opening question:

"Have you ever wondered what may happen to you or what it may feel like to walk into a cloud?"

Curated by Justin Jade Morgan with the support of the Wallace Gallery Morrinsville, the Len Lye Foundation, PAULNACHE Gallery, Antoinette Godkin Art House and the Wallace Arts Trust.

Join us for a talk with curator Justin Jade Morgan at 4:00pm on Wed 1 June in Ramp Gallery, just prior to the opening preview.
